Sunset Solstice Sounds
A 30 minute sound session dripping in golden Cornish sunset light - put your headphones on, REST and MANIFEST.
And with just a little splash, here we are in Cancer season, and what a joy it is to back in my element!
The last few weeks leading up to Solstice have been classic Gemini - highly active and activating, with shapeshifting messages and quite often deeply alarming handbrake turns. If you’ve been feeling a little disoriented and wobbly, you’re certainly not alone - I’ve also been hearing from many of you just how HEAVY it’s all felt, unusual for an air season but certainly a vibe reflected in the humid, thundery weather and low-vibe political activity here in the UK.
Fortunately a super busy month in the soundspace has kept me (just about) on the straight and narrow, regulating my nervous system and renewing my essential tools for managing anxiety - deep breaths, counting the rhythm of my heartbeat, and some delicious delta brainwave quiet time off for the monkey mind. I hope whatever your medicine is, it has been abundant and supportive during this busy solstice portal.
I’m gloriously lucky to have spent Solstice week in the southwest, holding spaces and events at some of my favourite places, soaking up the sunshine in both literal and energetic terms, seeing friends, getting my Atlantic Ocean fix, and generally being grateful. 2023 continues to be a ride, but the joy outweighs the gritty stuff for sure.

Here are my midsummer highlights:
Solstice evening at the Zen Den. Magical. The video below was shot at this event.
Solstice sunset from ZD, just before a lush swim. My only remaining standalone events at Zen Den this year will be on July 27th and September 23rd and you can book in now by clicking HERE (PS. these sessions always sell out and this is definitely it for 2023!)
Setup at Cabilla Cornwall for a sound session at a fascinating writing retreat. I LOVE retreats! If you’d like me to come play at yours or recommend me to a retreat host, please email jane@silenceandnoise.co.uk to reserve your dates. I’m currently booking all the way to the end of 2024 and the high summer June/July/August dates are getting pretty full up already.
The magical poppies in Cornwall - the best are at West Pentire although these at my old front garden South Fistral have my heart.
The first mini retreat with my favourite Meghan Field at her Sacred Kernow Studio was just BEAUTIFUL. I was also super-stoked with my new chartreuse dress! You can’t beat H&M for floaty gong fashions…
The Cancer Szn session at Ananta Yoga in Newquay was a wonderful community gathering of familiar faces. I just love this studio. My last session there this year will be Sept 8th - now booking!
Glastonbury was so early this year it collided with Solstice. I really loved RAYE, and thought Lizzo’s flute action was epic - but I had the most fun listening to the Guns n’Roses set. Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, they take sound to a different dimension and I wish I could have been down the front for that show!
It’s always lovely to reminisce and reflect during solstice. I decided against the overnight at Stonehenge this year due to likely Glasto traffic aggro and wanting to be early (yes!) for my Zen Den date. So it was great to look back on past solstice happenings and feel the love and sunshine.
